Identifying Companies that Exploit Prison Slave Labor

Millions For Prisoners Live Wire:

In addition to the scary problem of privately-operated, for-profit prisons, for-profit corporations are further incentivising higher incarceration rates by tapping into the prison population and exploiting slave labor. Regardless of your politics or how you feel about prisonersโ€™ rights, this affects you! The corporations that exploit prisoner labor, eager to get even more of it, will continue to bribe (โ€œlobbyโ€) Washington for more laws and harsher sentences, because more prisoners = more cheap labor. Any financial incentive to needlessly put more people in prison should be cause for alarm! Furthermore, it is the taxpayers who are subsidizing the decreased labor costs of these private corporations.

Shortly we will be releasing two company names that a collective of prisoners are asking for you to divest and boycott. This will be an international call for solidarity.

We must remove the financial incentives in order to cause any real change. The Poor People hold the power in their pockets. Time to start using that power.

In addition, final details are being worked out for unity on a national work strike. This entire issue is about labor, we must continue to encourage prisoners nationally to stop working. Refuse to comply.

We thank you all as we prepare to open another chapter in the fight for prisoners human rights.
